"These eczema photos (atopic dermatitis) show the various forms of the condition. The condition is used to refer to a broad range of skin problems that are usually characterized by red skin lesions, skin crusts, itch and dry or pus filled areas. It can affect people of all ages, with different forms appearing all over the body. The following eczema pictures depict the most common forms of the disorder. The condition usually begins as an infant or in childhood, and rarely begins as an adult unless caused by some type of contact with a chemical or allergen.
Atopic dermatitis is frequently found on the neck, behind the elbows, on the hands and behind the knees. In childhood eczema, a typical localized area is around the mouth in addition to the aforementioned locations on the body.
See our collection of eczema pictures below."
Seborrheic Eczema (Cradle Cap)
In infants, a form of eczema called cradle cap causes redness and yellow scaling on the face, scalp and in body folds. It occurs in 2% to 5% of children in the first months after being born. It is more common in males. Treatment includes the rubbing of warm olive oil into the scalp and the use of a mild shampoo.
See example on the following pictures of infant eczema.
Pictures of Infant Eczema
These eczema pictures of children depict a condition caused by atopy, which is a heredity disorder where the body produces abnormal levels of antibodies in reaction to different types of allergies. This includes food allergy and seasonal inhaled allergies.
The disorder goes by several names including infantile atopic dermatitis, infantile eczema, atopic eczema, and disseminated neurodermatitis.

Infantile eczema starts to appear before age 6 months. It can also appear as the child gets older or during adulthood. Most children are age 3 to 12 when they experience symptoms. Lesions are found on the cheeks, behind the knee, behind the elbow, and on the neck.
In infants, atopic dermatitis that are triggered by food are often caused by oranges, wheat, cereals, egg whites and milk. Inhaled allergens that are culprits in this skin condition are pets (cats, dogs) ,dust, wool, bird dander, feathers.
Pictures of Atopic Dermatitis in Children
After age 4, atopic dermatitis is referred to as childhood atopic dermatitis. Symptoms include very red skin (erythematous), dry lesions (in most cases), and generalized skin flaking. Symptoms usually appear in front or at the bend of the elbow, behind the knee, on the wrist and on both sides of the neck.

Adult Photos of Eczema (Adult Atopic Dermatitis)
Eczema in adults is usually less acute or sudden in adults, than in cases seen in children. Typical food based causes include dairy, seafood, eggs, wheat, coffee, tea, nuts, mango, lemon, strawberry and canned foods. Environmental causes include pollen.
Allergy shots, which desensitize the patient to a particular allergen can help. If food based, an elimination diet, can help to identify the specific food component causing the problem.
